TWO GUYS

Two Guys. If those two words just unlocked a core memory, you’re a real Jersey kid. Before the big-box era, there was Two Guys — the discount department store chain born in Harrison, New Jersey, that defined shopping for generations.
Born in Harrison, Raised Everywhere
Two Guys started in 1946, founded by two brothers (the “two guys”) selling TVs out of a Harrison warehouse. It grew into a massive chain across New Jersey and beyond — part department store, part supermarket, part wonderland. If you grew up in Jersey in the 60s, 70s, or 80s, your childhood has Two Guys in it.
The Experience
Two Guys was chaos in the best way: aisles of everything, the smell of popcorn, toys you’d beg for, and parents who’d say “we’ll see.” The stores were huge, the prices were low, and a trip there was an event. Kids today will never understand the thrill of the Two Guys toy aisle.
Gone But Not Forgotten
The chain closed in 1982, but Jersey never forgot. The buildings became flea markets, the signs became legends, and the memories became stories we tell anyone who’ll listen. Mention Two Guys to a Jersey person over 45 and watch their eyes light up.
